The Name Files includes both cross-references to the Subject Files and many items deemed too unimportant for the Subject Files. Included are records filed under the names of Senators and Representatives; organizations, corporations, and institutions; local, state, and foreign government officials; businesspersons, educators, celebrities, and office seekers; and many private citizens. A few projects are also indexed, at least partially, e.g. "Swine Flu Program."
The Name Files has only marginal value for names of White House staff and certain other Executive branch officials. It cites them sparingly.

The documents pertain to the domestic and international economic climates, monitoring of food and grain prices, energy consumption, exports and imports, and regulation of industries. While this series consists primarily of records found in the L. William Seidman Files (ARC Identifier 644158), it also contains interfiled Federal Reserve Board documents. Burns, although not officially a member of the EPB, was invited to attend meetings whenever he chose and regularly received copies of Board memoranda.
The Material on Task Force Study subseries of this series consists of a set of memoranda and reports to inform members of the Economic Policy Board of events and potential items in the news and before Congress.
