Series
This series contains Robert Visser's copies of memoranda, correspondence, reports, agendas, regulations, advisory opinions, minutes, and notes concerning Federal Election Commission (FEC) meetings during the 1976 presidential election campaign. The materials concern such topics as FEC organization and operation, drafting of regulations implementing election laws, and issuance of advisory opinions, and the role of election committees. Although some earlier material appears, the best documented meetings fall in the periods from September 1975 to February 1976 and late May to September 1976. The Supreme Court decision invalidating portions of the Federal Election Campaign Act left the Commission powerless to act during March, April, and part of May 1976.
