White House Photographic Office, 1974-77

This collection contains contact sheets and negatives for approximately 290,000 photos of President Ford, his staff, and his family during the Ford administration. The images show activities in White House meeting rooms, offices, and the family residence; visits to Camp David; flights on Air Force One; President Ford and Mrs. Ford's domestic and overseas trips; visits by foreign leaders; vacations in Colorado; and campaign swings.

White House Communications Agency Audiotapes, 1974-77

This collection contains over 1,400 audio recordings made by the White House Communication Agency (WHCA)  of President Gerald R. Ford's speeches, news conferences, and other public statements. It also includes speeches, news conferences, and other public statements by Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, Ford administration staff, First Lady Betty Ford, and the First Family. WHCA also taped press briefings given by the Press Secretaries Jerald terHorst and Ron Nessen, Cabinet members, members of Congress, or other persons.

Library staff has digitized a select group of recordings from the Presidential speeches, remarks and news conferences series covering such events as President Ford's swearing-in ceremony, his appearance before the committee investigating the Nixon pardon, State of the Union addresses, press conferences, and television interviews. White House Communications Agency Videotapes of Public Affairs, News, and other Television Broadcasts, 1973-77

This collection contains approximately 764 video recordings that document news and public affairs broadcasts from the national networks (ABC, CBS, NBC); the public broadcast station WETA in Washington, DC; and various local station affiliates. Programs include news special reports, national presidential addresses and press conferences, local presidential events, guest interviews of administration officials, appearances of Ford family members, and the 1976 Republican Convention and the Gerald Ford-Jimmy Carter debates. In addition, WHCA created weekly compilation videotapes of selected stories from network evening news programs. Please note that the majority of the footage has copyright restrictions since it was recorded from network broadcasts.

Naval Photographic Center Film of Presidential Events, 1974-1977

The Naval Photographic Center (NPC) shot 16mm color motion picture film recordings of many of President Ford’s activities, especially ceremonial and public events. These included bill signings, speeches, announcements, photo-opportunity events, state dinners and entertainment, and some domestic and foreign trips. The NPC also sometimes filmed public events featuring First Lady Betty Ford or the Ford children.

President Ford Committee Records: Audiovisual Materials (1976 election committee)

This collection contains audio recordings, video recordings, and photographs created or collected by the President Ford Committee (PFC) during Gerald Ford's 1976 campaign. Many of the recordings relate to radio and television advertisements supporting his candidacy. Additional materials, such as working files of raw footage and interim edits, are currently unprocessed and unavailable for research.
