The Treaty Room

The Treaty Room

The Treaty Room has furniture in it from several Presidents and First Ladies. Much of the furniture and the wall treatments were selected by Jackie Kennedy in 1961 and 1962. In 1870, President Grant purchased the swivel chair and some of the upholstered chairs. President Polk contributed the heart-back chairs.

The chandelier took JOhn Zweifel about 250 hours to make - he used tiny tubes, glass beads, brass rings and even tinier wiring to make the light lamps light up!
