Ghaith al-Omari – Great Decisions Series 2025 The Middle East in Transition

We welcome Ghaith al-Omari, Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation senior fellow, Washington Institute for Near East Policy. The Middle East is a region of profound historical, political, and cultural complexity and currently faces many challenges to future stability. Several key issues dominate the region, including the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, ongoing civil wars in Yemen and Libya, and continuing regional antagonism from Iran. While these issues remain complex, and ongoing violence heartbreaking, Mr. al-Omari will offer insights on potential ways forward, framed by his deep experience in the region.

This series is brought to you by World Affairs Council of West Michigan.

Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. The program provides background information and policy options for the most critical issues facing America each year and serves as the starting place for dialogue and discussion within the community. The eight topics are selected by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) each year.

This free event is open to the public and registration is not required to attend in person.
