Attorneys Gerald Ford joined this Grand Rapids firm upon discharge from the Navy in 1946. Most of the collection is Ford's correspondence with friend Philip Buchen and others in the firm, 194552. Ford, First Lady Betty Ford, White House and congressional staff members, administration officials, members of Congress, and Ford friends. It also contains Cannon’s notes taken while reading transcripts of Trevor Armbrister’s 1977 interviews with President Ford and a few additional documents and notes.
