The “Correspondence” subseries contains correspondence between OECD staff and other government departments such as Department of State and the Department of Commerce, as well as international members of the OECD. The “Numbered Documents” subseries contains documents about the OECD Committee on Consumer Policy's meetings and press releases, often referring to product testing, product safety, and marketing practices. The subseries of the Working Party, which was an international consortium of government agencies for consumer advocacy, contains documents relating specifically to the Working Party meetings and contain information about international efforts for better product labeling, product safety, product testing, and mandatory industry practices. The series includes extensive materials from Virginia Knauer's work in the Richard Nixon administration, some of which date from as early as 1970.

This series consists primarily of photographs of Dr. Alexander Schmidt on official visits or at meetings in his capacity as Commissioner of Food and Drugs. A visit to the San Francisco District Office and a 1974 trip to Japan as part of a U.S.-Japan Cooperative Study Program on Health and Welfare are particularly well documented. This series also includes an audio recording of Schmidt’s 1973 address to the Midwest Pharmaceutical Advertising Club Seminar and a video recording about self-medication.
